Visit Hailsham
Hailsham is a vibrant and historic market town overlooking the Pevensey Levels, where the Romans built Pevensey Castle on what was then an island and William of Normandy made his historic landing in 1066.
Hailsham has been established as a market town since 1252 and still retains its historic core around St Mary's Church and the Market Square. Visually the town centre is a delightful mixture of the old and the new, having two modern shopping precincts yet retaining some of the character of its past heritage with St Mary's Church, Fleur de Lys and other buildings dating back to the 16th century.
Whilst in the area you might like to visit the fully restored Hailsham Pavilion offering an up to date programme of films as well as live performances.
The towns Farmers' Market is held every 2nd Saturday of the month.
To explore the area on foot or by bike you can join the former Cuckoo railway line now the Cuckoo Trail, from the town centre. For leisure activities in the town visit Freedom Leisure Hailsham - a leisure centre with a gym, a pool with a flume and water slide, and ten pin bowling.
