Originally established as a Saxon Settlement and located just a short distance from the county town of Lewes, Newhaven is a thriving harbour town linking the Sussex coast of South East Britain with mainland Europe.

Situated at the mouth of the River Ouse, Newhaven is surrounded by the stunning South Downs, Britains newest National Park. The town is also conveniently located between Brighton and Eastbourne and the harbour provides a year round ferry link to Dieppe via Transmanche Ferries.

Steeped in maritime history, Newhaven is a thriving, creative place to visit and its busy port and marina will appeal to anyone with a nautical flair. West Quay provides an ideal location to observe the fishing fleet and whether it is yachting, scuba diving or any number of water activities that appeal, it can be found in Newhaven.

Newhaven also boasts a number of great family attractions. Explore Newhaven Fort, a nineteenth century clifftop fortress, complete with ramparts, underground passages and fascinating displays with audio-visual presentations of life in wartime Britain. Discover Paradise Park which includes a dinosaur park, indoor and outdoor gardens, crazy golf, miniature railway and the Newhaven Historical Society Maritime Museum.
