Visit Seaford

Seaford Bay

Located between the beautiful South Downs and the English Channel lies the town of Seaford.  With its impressive coastal scenery and maritime history, Seaford is a charming destination.

Once a member of the Cinque Ports, Seaford was home to shipwrights, chandlers, sailors, fishermen and merchants and even today its history and maritime connections are both obvious and integral to the identity of the town and its inhabitants.

Discover local history collections based in the Martello Tower Museum and follow the Heritage Trail which takes visitors on a journey through the historic town.  Art lovers should take the time to visit The Crypt Gallery which contains a beautiful 13th Century merchant's undercroft, enveloped by a contemporary art gallery.

Seaford also has a bustling town centre with an array of antique and independent shopping, cafes and restaurants which are just a short walk from the beach. The pebbled Seaford beach offers clear views across the bay to Newhaven to the west and the dramatic frontage of Seaford Head to the East.  A rambler's heaven, Seaford beach is also the starting point of one of the finest coastal walks in England, which affords stunning view of Seaford Head, the Seven Sisters and Cuckmere Haven along the way.

You will find a great range of places to stay in Seaford  from friendly Bed & Breakfasts to luxurious self catering cottages. Coincide your visit with one of the many events that take place including music festivals, sporting events, Artwave Open Studios Festival or the nearby Glynebourne Opera.

Seaford is also a convenient base for exploring the South Downs - Britains newest National Park, Lewes and Eastbourne. For further information about visiting Seaford contact: Seaford Tourist Information Centre
