Cycling in Sussex
Get off the beaten track and explore miles of trails that criss-cross the recently designated South Downs National Park and Sussex countryside. The bridleways and byways provide some of the best off-road cycling in the country, plus there are plenty of other mountain-bike routes to discover.
The famous 101-mile long South Downs Way follows a Stone Age flint-trading route, and provides great off-road terrain. Whilst for gentle rides there are surfaced tracks and trails, including The Cuckoo Trail, The Forest Way and The Worth Way, which provide a leisurely cycle along disused railway lines.
Sustrans have also created a network of cycle paths, making it easier to ride between many of the villages and towns in Sussex.
